52 Hike Challenge: Hop In!

It’s been a funny year, not the haha kind of funny but the weird sort. It’s been one of ups and downs, excitement, pain and whatnot! As the year draws to a close and I make my rough plans for the new year, one thing I sure want to bring back to my weeks is ‘some hiking.’ The year that went by also took me to doctors and lab tests, and to a surgery that was a minor one but demanded quite a bit of downtime from me. All that took place in the past 300-odd days took me away from the trails, too. I did do a few hikes but they were done at random and I’d like to make it a regular thing. As such, I’m thinking of taking up the 52 Hike Challenge.

Have you heard of it? Would you like to add weekly hikes to your 2023? Hop in! Take the 52 Hike Challenge. Let the challenge motivate you to hike through the new year. πŸ˜‰

I’ll get to the details in a bit. But first, let me tell you that I’ve thrown myself into the challenge with a hike in the Sierra Foothills, the weekend before last. The trail was an easy one and I logged in just a little over a mile but hey β€” I got the ball rolling!

So here’s recording Hike -1 of the 52 Hike Challenge β€”

Trail views - Mariposa, CA

Hike 1 of 52

Trail – A private trail in the Sierra Foothills  β€” In Mariposa, California
Terrain – Undulating
Difficulty Level – Easy
Date – December 18th
Distance & Time – 1.13 miles, 40 min.

What is the 52 Hike Challenge

The 52 Hike Challenge is an online program that aims at giving you that much-needed push to get you hiking so that you can get all the benefits of being out on a trail. All you have to do is hike once a week (at least)– for a year. And you will have done 52 hikes by the end of the year.

Here’s what you can do to keep the commitment:

  • Sign up on the Challenge’s official site,
  • Get yourself a hiking guide, hike log, stickers and patches to keep you motivated along the way
  • Hike once a week and put up a post about it on social media
  • Celebrate your milestones!

If you’d like to join the 52 Hike Challenge, feel free to sign up using this affiliate link. Begin your own 52 Hikes!

We can do this! πŸ™‚ Go ahead and sign up. All the best!

It’s wonderful to get back to hiking when you’ve been away from the trails for a while, and they’ve been calling. I’m more into easy trails these days. Beautiful photos! I hope we keep hiking.

For me, it’s been off and on lately. I picked it up again but we’re in the middle of back-to-back bomb cyclones, now.
Let’s hope for that. (And we can bring back tree pics for TTT. πŸ™‚)
      Happy Hiking in 2023, Joanna.

I’m sure it can. It’s so peaceful there: just the sounds of nature and maybe a vehicle passing by once in a while. πŸ™‚

Thank you for stopping by, Matheikal.
Happy New Year to you two and your feline friends. πŸ™‚
